Ghorepani is a village in Myagdi District in the Dhawalagiri Zone of northern-central Nepal. It lies 17 kilometres from the district capital of Baglung at an elevation of approximately 2874m (9429ft). The village lies within theAnnapurna Conservation Area (ACA) and contains a number of "guest houses" that provide lodging and meals to mountain trekkers, many of whom spend the night before a pre-dawn trek to the top of nearby Poon Hill (3210m/10531ft) to watch the sunrise.
The place used to be a rest stop where ancient traders found water (pani in Nepali) for their horses (ghora in Nepali) thus leading to the nomenclature Ghorepani.
Ghorepani lies on a major trail linking several other villages as well as theAnnapurna Base Camp. From the South-East direction, it can normally be reached by foot from the village of Birethanti in about 10 hours depending on the trekker. However, many trekkers prefer to overnight at one of the lower villages on their way to Ghorepani, covering the distance over two days owing to the steepness of the trail, the increase in altitude and the beauty of the natural surroundings. From the North-West direction, Ghorepani can be reached in about 8 - 10 hours starting from Tatopani. This trail passes through the villages of Shikha, Dana and Chitre.

We have just returned from trekking the everest region in Nepal. It was our first time traveling to Nepal and our first experience trekking. We contacted our guide, Sanjib Adhakari after reading reviews from his previous clients and it was the best decision we made. Sanjib made our whole experience much easier and more enjoyable! From regular contact before our trip, to booking hotels and flights for us, organizing our holiday was a very effortless experience. Sanjib is not only very knowledgable and experienced at trekking, he has a great sense of humour that makes even those longer days walking more fun! I would highly recommend Sanjib and have actually already begun organizing our next trek with him.

I have just completed Mount Everest Base Camp trek. I decided not to go in a group, but just with a guide. I was recommended Sanjib Adhikari and contacted him 2 months before my intended departure. From the first time I made contact, he was so responsive. He answered all my questions and gave me all the advice and help I needed even before getting to Nepal. Nothing was too much for him.
I was travelling alone, and worried I might get lonely for so long. Sanjib could not do enough to make my trek a happy and successful one. Everything went exactly as planned, he was 100% honest and reliable and is very knowledgeable about the Nepal, trekking, the areas and the people.
He also speaks very good English and has a good sense of humour. Not only was the trip a success but he made it enjoyable and a memorable one.
I would highly recommend any potential trekker in Nepal use Sanjib Adhikari. It is without a doubt that you will be richly rewarded if you do so
I and my son Cem (16), went to a 10-day trekking trip to the Everest Base Camp between January 27-Feb 6, 2014. Our route was flight from Kathmandu to Lukla-Phakding-Namche (2)-Tengbouche-Dingbouche (2)-Labouche-EBC-Thukla-Namche-Lukla and then flight back to Kathmandu. During the trip of 10 days, which was our fist trekking experience with my son, I must admit that you are witnessing some of the most striking views in the world. The route is rated as "difficult" by many but it was a lot of fun and challenge. I strongly suggest you acclimatize adequately and use "diamox" or equivalents starting with the beginning of your trip. Being at the EBC is phenomenal, but if you would like to have great clear views of the Everest Peak, you may want to try the Kala Pattar base camp as well. I also recommend January-February (and not October-November or April-May), as you have clearer views, less trouble with flights, and most importantly it was not bad with the weather--no snow or storms. After the 10 days of trekking, we spent another day in Kathmandu for sight-seeing.
Mr. Sanjib Adhikari was our trekking guide for this mission. I am very impressed with the professionalism and the friendly attitude by Sanjib. I highly recommend his services.
